The Command Module (CM) served as the command, control, and communications center for most of an Apollo mission. Supplemented by the Service Module, which provided the main spacecraft propulsion, maneuvering capability, and consumables (oxygen, water, propellant, hydrogen, etc), the CM provided all life support elements for three astronauts and for their safe return to Earth's surface.
